What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting children and adults at risk from harm, abuse, or neglect. Everyone has the right to feel safe, respected, and supported.

 

Who is at risk?

Children and young people (under 18) and adults with care or support needs who may be unable to protect themselves.

 

Types of abuse

Physical: hitting, slapping, misuse of medication
Emotional/Psychological: threats, humiliation, isolation
Sexual: unwanted sexual activity
Neglect: lack of basic care
Financial: misuse of money or property
Domestic Abuse: controlling or violent behaviour.

 

Signs to look out for

Unexplained injuries, behaviour changes, fearfulness, poor hygiene, untreated medical issues, financial concerns.

 

How we help

We take concerns seriously, have trained staff, work with local services, and respect confidentiality wherever possible.

 

If you are worried

Speak to a GP, nurse, or receptionist. You don’t need proof—just share your concern.

 

Emergency

Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger.
